The Crab Shack

We were supposed to dine at The Crab Shack last week but had a change of venue due to the rain.

Today, after we attended The Very Vintage Day out, we were asking each other if we prefer to call in to The Crab Shack or New Orleans for a bite.

The choice was The Crab Shack.  Last month, we visited during dinner hours and were ignored, honestly, no one bothered to attend to us and another couple waiting in line so we left.  Now that the time is after lunch, we hoped we would get some service.

Anyway, so much for the introduction, The Crab Shack is one of the restaurants we frequented, meaning we kept going back again and again (despite the lack of service sometimes).  We like the ambience of the restaurant overlooking the wharf.  The restaurant which also owns New Orleans uses enamelware which reminds me of the days I grew up.  The little bit of crack or chip making a black dent gives the plate an authentic look.

The Crab Shack is the place to go to for crabs.  Crabs are scarce to find in New Zealand restaurants so if you miss crabs, The Crab Shack is the place to be.  We had tried all their crab dishes in previous visits.  They all tasted yummy.

Today’s visit was for a quick late lunch and we ordered an Angus Burger with fries and two starters of Tacos – Bang Bang Chook and Tempura Fried Soft Shell Crab.

The fries were nice and crunchy, the Angus Burger was a bit bland.  The two tacos were pretty nice and the portion was quite good for a starter.  We had all of the three dishes came together.  My friend had the Burger while I had the two starters (two pieces of taco per starter).  I only managed to eat two pieces and doggy bag the rest.

I would still rate this place a scale of 4 out of 5 on Zomato’s rating.  Probably higher if I had ordered crab but my companion isn’t someone to get his hands all dirty.

Yes, we got served this time so the visit was pleasant.  So again, we will be back.
